Panel 10 - Recreation and Relaxation | A Place to Slow Down, Speed Up, and Soak It All In

Recreation and relaxation have always been woven into the fabric of Manson's culture. In many ways, they helped shape it. Long ago, people were drawn here by the same things that attract us today—clear water, open spaces, fertile land, and a pace of life that invites you to slow down and simply be present.

Just take a moment and look around. This beautiful corner of the world may no longer

be a complete secret, but it still feels like one. With no stoplights and little interest in

rushing anywhere, Manson remains a place where people have come to breathe a little deeper and stay a little longer. Some find adventure on the lake or in the hills. Others find comfort in the quiet rhythm of small-town life.

Situated on the north shore of beautiful Lake Chelan, at the foot of the Cascade Mountains, Manson Washington is a peaceful rural community surrounded by agriculture, natural beauty, and open space. It is a place where pavement has not made its way through and nature still touches all. Whether you think of it as the end of the road or the beginning of a new journey it has been a soul nurturing life experience for centuries.

THE LAKE

If the water is calling your name, Manson delivers in a big way.

Lake Chelan is renowned for having some of the cleanest and clearest water in Washington State. Classified as ultra-oligotrophic, the lake exhibits exceptional water quality and remarkable clarity. Slip into the water on a warm summer day and you can often see your entire body beneath the surface—no weeds, no murky bottoms, just crystal-clear glacier-fed water.

The lake itself is impressive by any measure. Stretching more than 50 miles in length and reaching depths of nearly 1,500 feet, Lake Chelan is one of the deepest lakes in the United States and among the deepest lakes in the world. That's a lot of water—and a lot of room to play.

Whether your perfect day involves water skiing, wakeboarding, paddleboarding, kayaking across the morning “glass,” or simply cruising the shoreline, Manson has you covered. Anglers can pursue rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, Chinook salmon, kokanee, and smallmouth bass, not only in Lake Chelan but also in nearby waters such as Wapato Lake, Roses Lake, Dry Lake, and Antilon Lake.

For families, the lakeshore offers welcoming beaches, swimming areas, parks, and

amenities that make spending an entire day by the water easy and enjoyable. And for

those who prefer a slower pace, there may be nothing better than relaxing on a pontoon

boat, enjoying lunch and a glass of locally produced wine while the sparkling lake

stretches endlessly before you.

THE LAND

The beauty of Manson extends far beyond the shoreline.

Rolling hills covered with orchards and vineyards create a stunning landscape that invites exploration. Recreation here comes in many forms and at every pace. Golf enthusiasts can choose between the Chelan Municipal Golf Course and the spectacular Bear Mountain Ranch Golf Course, both offering challenging play and unforgettable scenery.

For those who enjoy a more leisurely adventure, agritourism has become one of the area's most cherished experiences. A drive along the Manson Scenic Loop reveals breathtaking views and unique destinations, including Chelan Valley Farms and Antheia of Chelan. Here you'll discover flowers, fruits, vegetables, local wines, and wide-open spaces that encourage visitors to slow down and savor the moment.

You might even find yourself doing exactly what the saying suggests—stopping to smell the roses before gathering a bouquet to take home.

During the growing season, Manson's Farmers Market welcomes visitors on Wednesdays and Saturdays, offering locally grown produce, handcrafted goods, and opportunities to visit with neighbors and growers alike. Several parks throughout the community also provide places for children to play, families to gather, and everyone to enjoy a little fresh air.

THE HILLS

Adventure doesn't stop at the water's edge.

The hills and mountains surrounding Manson offer endless opportunities to explore, reflect, and reconnect with nature. Whether you're hiking through wild landscapes, strolling scenic trails, or seeking the thrill of motorized adventure, nature and unforgettable views await around every corner.

Echo Valley and Echo Ridge provide year-round recreation. During winter, visitors enjoy

downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and tubing. When the snow melts, the same terrain becomes a network of hiking and biking trails suitable for every age and skill level.

More than 150 miles of groomed snowmobile trails weave through the surrounding mountains, creating opportunities for exploration throughout the seasons. Every ridgeline offers another breathtaking view of Lake Chelan, the surrounding valleys, and the distant Cascades.

And then there is the night sky.

Far from the bright lights of larger cities, Manson offers a celestial display that leaves visitors in awe. On a clear evening, countless stars illuminate the darkness, creating a natural light show that reminds us just how vast and beautiful our world truly is.

THE FOOD AND DRINK

Cooking and dining act as mindful, sensory experiences that build community, reduce stress, and foster creativity. For food lovers, wine enthusiasts, craft beer fans, and spirits seekers, Manson offers an experience every bit as memorable and relaxing as its landscapes.

Dining options range from upscale elegance to relaxed outdoor settings at local bakeries, u-pick farms, restaurants, and wineries. Local favorites have long served as gathering places where friends, family, neighbors, and visitors come together over good food. From American classics fresh off the grill or garden to authentic Mexican specialties and the rich, aromatic flavors of traditional Indian cuisine, Manson offers something for every palate.

More than 40 wineries and tasting rooms are spread across the valley, with most of them located in Manson. At many of these venues, world-class wines are only part of the experience. Live music, special events, inspirational views, and warm hospitality create memorable afternoons and evenings for visitors and locals alike.

Beer and spirits lovers aren't left out either. Fresh, intentional beers paired with excellent food, and handcrafted spirits inspired by the apple heritage of the region are at your fingertips.

Here, good food and drink is more than nourishment—it's another reason to slow down,

connect, and enjoy the moment.

IN A NUTSHELL

The serenity of Manson is about more than its lakes, agriculture, mountains, or restaurants. It comes from generations of people who have embraced the lifestyle that these treasures inspire. The lake encourages exploration, the land provides abundance, and the hills offer perspective. In Manson, peace isn't something you search for—it's something that's been waiting here all along.
